A True “Artist”? Island Sunrise Photos

I have discovered a lot about myself since starting this blog. I have recaptured my love of photography and writing. I am so excited to bring the next piece of myself to this page, whether in words or in pictures. I have noticed something new though. I have gotten into the strangest sleep habits.

Before I began this blogging journey I was pretty much a night owl, up till 2, sleep till 10 or so in the morning. Now, I sleep when I’m tired and write or take photographs when awake. What’s so strange about this? Well, I’ve fallen asleep really early some nights which causes me to wake at 1am and be up all night working on my next post, and then nap at two in the afternoon, which of course causes me stay up late again. For example: I went to the island last evening around 5pm to catch the sunset. I took over 150 photos, came home, ate, and fell asleep around nine. Then, I woke at 3:30 this morning, unable to go back to sleep. I had tea, edited some photos, and put up a blog post. I then decided that seeing as I was wide awake I’d head back to the island for some sunrise photographs! I got to the island just in time, took around 110 photos, then headed to the village and had breakfast at “The Sandcastle” while reading a book. Is this crazy sleep pattern what makes some artists go mad? I don’t feel mad, in fact I feel more sane than ever. I was just wondering if this unpredictable existence I’ve been leading lately means I am a true “artist”. (Yes, I’m still using quotes for that word) None of this is a complaint by the way. I am enjoying every minute of it, and it’s been a long time since I’ve felt any real joy in my life.

I was exhilarated as I drove over the causeway to the island this morning, the smell of the salt air just calming me, and bringing such peace. I love the smell of the ocean. I am so blessed to live in a place that makes that scent available to me anytime, on many days from my backyard.

It was a bit foggy this morning, but I was blessed it burned off as the sun came up. I have so many photos to go through between last night’s sunset and today’s sunrise, but I’m hoping you enjoy these. Click on any photo on my page for slideshow!
