Playing with My New Camera…So Much Fun!

Not sure if I mentioned that my sweetheart bought me a new camera! He noticed that for the past year or so I have not been doing much in the creative realm, and wanted to inspire me. It really did!

This camera is much more intricate than my little Canon that I have been using for years. Although, I loved the photos it took, I always shot on “auto”. Now, I am learning how to shoot manual and reading about the basics of photography. I’m really excited about something for the first time in a while..(well, besides him of course lol).

These are the first two photos I have ever shot in manual, and I am loving learning more every day. Heck, I’ve had to spend a lot of time just reading the manual that came with my camera bundle and my Dslr book for Dummies. I love that I am learning something new.

Bird Song

Bird Song

Anybody Home?

In the midst of a heavy sleep…I heard a tap, tap, tapping on my bedroom window. This little bird was either flirting with its reflection, or wanting to come into better digs to nest…He has been doing this for several days now. Does anyone know what kind of bird this is?

Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

A free bird leaps on the back of the wind
and floats downstream till the current ends
and dips his wing in the orange suns rays and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage
can seldom see through his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.”

Sunset St. Simon’s Island Georgia

12/5/13 Set 1

Post #101, really? Wow, I can’t believe I have posted that many times since the end of October when I began this blog. I want to thank my followers for thinking that I am interesting enough to click that button! I truly appreciate all the support and encouragement I have gotten from you all.

Anyway, I headed over to the island this evening to catch the sunset. I had no idea how many photographs I would end up taking. It will take a couple of days for me to cull and edit them all, but here are a couple of my favorites so far.

A Day of Few Words More Photos

Too Tired to Title

I messed up and took my sleep meds way too early last night, then woke at midnight and could not get back to sleep. I got quite a bit accomplished today, and it is just after 2pm. I did manage to take a photo jaunt, but with over 80 photos to cull and edit, I am just too tired to post them yet. I am going to sleep now, and will probably be up all night editing photos, and writing a blog post…we’ll see. I leave you with a couple of photos from this morning. Click any photo for slide show viewing! Hugs all!

The Sea Gulls were very cooperative this morning…more photos later!
